OK, bear with me cuz I ain't no physics major, but... At some point, won't the higher volume canoe serve as a major obstacle? When Tyler Bradt ran Palouse Falls, he estimates that he went 20 feet underwater. In a canoe, the higher volume wouldn't allow you get as deep. Therefore, since the distance ...

Awesome Adam! Now if only they could design a whitewater boat for adults that weighed 10 pounds. I don't think 10lbs adults make up a large enough market share to make it financially viable. har har har actually, i'd be down for some midget boating. it'd be like an episode of jerry springer o...

Depends on who you are trying to reach, I guess. If you're preaching some evangelical canoeing to kayakers, than the hardcore "Look what I can do!" Class V paddle porn is going to be effective. But for non-boaters, it's more difficult. Most of us have been boating whitewater so long, we take for gra...

I'm not sure if this has been covered in the previous ten threads, but the biggest leg up that kayakers have isnt necessarily how easy it is, or how cheap it is. Between inflatable kayaks and the basic rec boat, kayaking has cornered the market on that first weekend warrior purchase, or that first v...

Yeah, the Yough in general has a great feel to it. I'd also add some of the great rivers in Northern Ontario. The Petawawa comes to mind. I've never been to the Missinaibi but I hear that's amazing as well. The Moise in Quebec too. Lot's of great water out there. I hope I live long enough to see 10%...

It's not the weight of the water, its how it moves. If you have a boat loaded with gear, that gear is going to stay in relatively the same place. So when the boat starts to roll, the weight doesn't shift. Water does, and the weight is constantly moving around, constantly making your boat unstable. A...

So you were right. After an hour of just sitting in the boat, taping and retaping anchors for straps and these blocks, it became apparent how they will work. Go figure. It just took me a while to figure out how to make them comfortable. I'll post some pictures later, I really feel that these toe blo...

Wait, I just want to clarify. You guys were able to put your foot into the cups with the hard curved part facing up, and your feet flat with soles up? Or do you not put your toes in all the way? If anyone has a picture of theirs, I'd appreciate a look. I'm going down to do a test run (duct taping ev...

That sounds like a pretty good way to get pinched on a rocky road. :( My thoughts exactly. Plus, I don't like where my feet are with foot pegs. I sat in the boat tonight as I was putting in my knee pads. I'll try to work out how my feet should go, but if worse comes to worse, I'll just fashion a br...

Anyone with adjustable toe blocks...HELP!!!!
Does anyone use the Northwater adjustable toe blocks? If so, how do you have them installed in your boat? I'm about to put them in, and the hole reason I got them was because I wanted to let my feet lie flat. Will I be able to have the tops of my feet flat (or close to it) against the bottom of my b...
