Re: Comparing new OC-1 solos for 200+lbs
With a top-heavy build at 6' 1" a 31" inseam and 190+ lbs, I've been paddling the Octane 91 on everything for the past couple of years. For perspective, this summer it was just so good on a (10~11K cfs) Main Salmon self support trip with 40+ lbs of camping gear. A couple of weeks later, on hades's c...

Foam side panels in mini-cell bulkhead boats?
L 'Edge, Blackfly, Silverbirch all seem to put some kind of foam side panel in their cockpits. Not so much in strap-outfitted boats. I'm assuming the reason is extra buoyancy; is there more to it?

Re: Silverbirch Creeker
So the word "lust" does not apply yet for me. But granted, no actual dimensional/ non-SB team, production model reviews will be in for a while. Maybe this is being too obvious, but say if it were a bit more boat than the L 'Edge lite and a touch less boat than the Octane 91 (and maybe a bit wider, e...

Re: foot pegs - or no pegs?
An alternative to maybe try: instead of ankle blocks, I've been using shin blocks. Basically taller foam blocks right behind the knee pads. They are sized so that when on the pegs, weight is on my knees and toes. Then when I need a bit of relief, I push my feet to the side of the pegs and relax ankl...

Viper 12 to try in northern WA or southern BC?
'Have only paddled the V11 and liked it but it felt small, would like to try the 12 for a possible slalom boat since I do like edges... glass or plastic doesn't matter at this point. Cheers, Pat

Whitesell Descender for sale in Pacific Northwest
Hi all-- I'm up in Bellingham Washington near the Canadian border and am looking for a new home for the Descender. Red, light-weight-royalex OC1-- one of the later ones. One patch from previous (original) owner~ normal scratches for a late '90s boat :) . Paddles and rolls well. Great boat for big wa...

Re: Wanted: Outrage canoe
I've got a nice one in Bellingham WA for sale. 2010 or 11, something like that bags and adjustable tallish seat that I would be happy to leave out of the sale. 3six0-920-3358 or pm me if that isn't too far away.

Re: WTB Encore, Outrage X, Viper 12 or similar in N. CA
Those are some really different boats--Outrage x to viper 12? How about a standard Outrage? I'm in Bellingham WA and have a nice one (2010-11 ish) if you're interested.

Re: Wanted Beginner boat in CO or WA
Still looking? I'm in Bellingham WA and have a nice Outrage I could sell. Negotiable depending on how much rigging you want (I built the seat for me and could easily see it in another boat)... 3six0-920-3358

2011 Madriver Outrage in Pacific NW
This is the purple version with vinyl gunnels and adjustable, strapped in seat, I added double straps and oversized Gia float bags. The hull shows all the normal scratches, and has had KeelEazy protection on the bow and stern since day one (similar to kevlar guards but much lighter and streamlined--...

Shacho west coast, 6 month check in
Tougher and more stable than you expect, carves and turns better than it should-- feels more stable, more easy to turn and much faster to accelerate than my (25 inch thwarts) outrage. At 6' 1" and 180 (190 lbs over the winter holidays) and an intermediate paddler, I could not be happier. The only pr...

Re: Shacho reviews
I posted in this thread above, asking about the Shacho before ordering. Mine came in the freight last monday. With work and two Thanksgiving dinners, having to build the seat, getting it rigged etc., there was no paddling it until this morning. It was a sunny 47 degrees and the nearest water was in ...

Re: Shacho reviews
That sounds really great-- any comments on recommended paddler weight? I'm 6'1"/ 190 and am really enjoying paddling both a Whitesell Descender and a 2010 outrage-- lots of class III this summer. Rolling both sides on both boats, and having a ball. With the two round bottom boats I'd like to add an ...
