After this weekend I've got a Caption that needs a repair (about a 3 inch rip/crack on the bottom). Is the Loctite worth the price (given that I have some 3M adhesive in the cupboard)? P. p.s. Also some stress cracks on the inner hull, but I don't think a large fiberglass will stay due to flex - is ...

I'm looking at Esquif's 14' Vertige X as an alternative to the Caption. Or, if you want to kick it up a notch, their 13' Blast. The people I know who paddle the Probe 14 love it, including the lap-belt outfitting (I've also seen some XL 15s paddle well). But same with the people who paddle the Nexus...

Mostly 2nd-hand reviews, but, for what it's worth, I've heard better things about the Caption (and Mohawk Probe 14, and the Esquif Vertige X seems similar to a Caption) than I have about the Nexus (and Synergy). I find the Caption very fun, with incredible secondary stability. It is a play boat, so ...

Hi Jan, I am aware of the festival, e-mailed with Shayne, and received some e-mails through the Victoria club. In the end, this was a weekend that worked to go do some WA rivers with some friends and the Seattle club. Becasue I've never been to a ww festival, don't know the Puntledge, and I'm only a...

I know there are no hard-and-fast rules that account for body types and paddling styles/preferences, but... Is it a better indicator of seat placement to measure from the seat-back forward to the centre of the kayak bolts? Say, having your saddle-back about 4-4.5" back from those bolts? Anyone relat...

Thanks for the measurements. Not sure what to make of the differences though. Perhaps I have some room to play with, but maybe not much. It seems if anything will fit me, it should be something like the Score. On the other hand, I don't want to spend good money a boat that'll be stern squirting ever...

Just to be sure we're talking about the same measurement -- Chuck, is 9" from the inside of the cockpit at the centre-back as far back as you can slide your butt? At 8" forward I can't get in, even with the lower saddle. Scott's sounds comfy: farther back & taller saddle. But I wonder why Chuck suir...

I think I'd try something like Roy suggested - just clean it up and lay down some Royalex repair putty. I'd mix a batch of 3M urethane adhesive and add a little too much of the soft part (white). Or , from the flipside, a little less hardener (brown). If the mix is too brown, it can be pretty rigid,...

Thanks Scott! If you can measure it when you get a chance, that would be great! If I do end up with this boat, I think I'd have no choice but to cut the saddle back and raise the seat, but I don't want it trimmed stern-heavy either. Anyone else? Cheers, Pat. p.s. Will a C1 skirt that fits a Cascade ...

Score: saddle, trim, thighs, hip pads
I'm 5'9" 210lbs, big thighs. I'm trying a borrowed Score... My quads are jammed into the cockpit rim (it could be because I'd still need to trim the knee bulkhead to get right down/in). The seat is about 51/2 - 6" (and I may need higher). The back of the seat is about 8", maybe 8 1/4", from the insi...

S8
Spent about 15 minutes in a friend's large S8 the other day - 15 minutes was all I could take. And it wasn't just the knees/ankle/feet - the rim was jammed pretty tight against my big, fat quads, that hurt too! And, even with my quads jammed, my weight was pretty far back - unless I constantly aware...
