Re: Vertige X as a solo for a 290 lb. paddler
Final note, before I shut up! I like the H2PRO, especially as a guide boat, as it is predictable and very comfy to paddle for a long time. HOWEVER, it is NOT a fast boat! I only mention this as you said your Probe 12 is 'slow' and that is a reason ...

The layup is Vajdas Racing pro which is about 2300 new without shipping form Slovakia. The weight of the boat WAS 7.5kg before we cut it down, now it is even LIGHTER even with ...

Re: Throw Rope Thoughts?
... each of those times it has not been needed. The diameter on my rope is sufficient for most things. I have the NRS Guardian Waist Throw Bag. The "pro" offers an upgrade in rope strength, which may be advisable. If I were on a comfy class II run, I would probably keep it casual and have a line ...

... The Hydroscapes is a brilliant piece of kit, but the waist tightening is not unique, the HF serpent (now discontinued) Hydraulics River Pro the Green Jacket and the Aquavest 3000 (the predecessor in astrals line) have that feature too. The Hydraulics vest I mentioned is from NZ, but ...

Re: PFD Reccomendations
I have a Kokatat Ronin Pro, which I like very much, fwiw. It has an amazing amount of flotation for a vest that feels relatively low-profile. Do try on PFDs before you buy, though. I really wanted to get an Astral Green Jacket, but it ...

For Sale - Two Shortened Vajda Nereus C-1's
... boats have been professionally shortened to the new length and are now each at 11' 6" - the cut down jobs look really nice. Both boats are Racing-Pro layup - carbon/kevlar with stiffeners - the only difference between racing-pro and the vajda elite layup is that the elite uses one layer of pure ...

Re: Marathon Canoe Jensen V1-pro
I've got an old Wenonah Marathon. I think it's a predecessor to the V1A. I'm 195ish & my stern paddler is probably 220ish. To trim the boat I'm crammed as far forward as I can be. My knees are touching & the gunnels are bowed out from my calves. I cannot fit my heels side by side on the bottom of th...

Re: Marathon Canoe Jensen V1-pro
A mixer would be set up so the heavier paddler MUST be in the bow. As Mike said, this is the best way to run these boats anyway. Personally, I feel that my V1-Michigan is as fast as a standard V1. The Michigan, like a "mixer", trims better with the heavier paddler in the bow.

Haven't bought one yet but wonder if it would be the fastest possibility for us with our weight range. I guess a Pro should be faster than a mixer even if trimmed with some weight...
