Imperial Cruiser C2?
This is probably a long shot, but has anyone ever seen or even paddled a Shaggy Designs Imperial Cruiser C2 on this side of the big pond??? I was checking out their web site and the videos they have on there with 2 guys paddling it back to back and doing flatwater cartwheels looks just too cool!! :o...

Finkenmeister
Here is a translation of a reply I got from a German paddler about the Finkenmeister after posting a few questions on a German website: 'Hi Martin, I paddled the Finkenmeister a few times in some easier eddies. The boat does not work for me. I felt more like paddling an open boat. I could not correc...

Bruce, I found this boat on Robsons website (they are indeed aGerman company and their paddles have a good reputation in Europe) this spring, and tried pretty hard to get my hands on one to demo. Unfortunately the Canadian distributor of Robson does not carry it in his line up, as he does not see en...

glad you are ok!
Matt, glad to hear you are o.k! I just bought a C1 (Delirious, love that boat!) and it is equipped with a lap belt. I haven't used it yet, as I don't feel comfy enough yet with the thought of a wet exit in strong current, although I have practiced in flat and moderate water, and the foam bulkhead se...

gull
Mike,
I will be on the Gull on Sunday. Gotta fix the brakes on my truck tomorrow. If you want to car pool on Suday, let me know.
If you are interested in trying it out, I will as well bring my Prelude and Atom along.
see ya

Ocoee
Mike, how is your tailbone? Hope it's not broken! Well, I didn't do a 2nd run either, tried to do spins on the wave, got trashed and went upside down down the shallow left side. Thought that this was enough of a beating for one day. By the way, I saw an Ocoee posted on the Ottawa White Water Paddler...

paddle length
when I started canoeing, I was told that when standing upright, the T-grip of your paddle should end just under your chin, but I found that I like paddles better in my OC1, that are about 1-2 inches shorter than that, i.e. that end just over your shoulder. Not very scientific, but works pretty good ...

paddle length
Sir Adams suggestion is actually for a C1, you might want to consider a slightly longer one for the skeeter, as it is an OC!. I for one like a paddle that is about 4 inches longer (60 inch vs. 56 inch; I am about 6'1") for my open boat than for my C1. My OC1 paddle is just a little longer than shoul...

Mike, just scrolled down and saw your post, do you want to fix the worn edges on your Nitro? I was on the Gatineau during the festival 2 weeks ago and all the Esquif boaters (as the Gatineau is in QC, there were tons of them) had fixed the worn edges of their boats with kevlar wear pads, the kind yo...

Thanks Kirill and Aric for your input, since I have only heard good things about this boat, I'll drive down to Oakville and pick it up this week. Will probably be some learning curve for me coming from an Atom!

gull river race
Mike, I'll probably see you on the Gull then, I may be going there, unless the Kipawa runs at an irresistible level! Sure you can try my new boat, the Prelude is an absolute blast of an open boat! The Gull River Open Canoe Slalom is next Sunday, September 07. For details check www.whitewaterontario....

helmets
I am currently using, depending on where I paddle, 2 different helmets. If I am on big, deep water stuff like the Ottawa or Gatineau, I use still my old Protec full cut helmet. If I paddle shallow or creeky stuff, I use my hockey helmet with a full wire face cage. I am aware that it does not match t...
