you will have no problem at 200 Lbs in a supermax. I paddled one for a while (weighed 210) before I got a batmax.
It is a bigger boat, and you may not be able to squirt it, but it turns well.

Blue foam for walls
Mike, A little trick we used to use to keep the weight down was to use blue foam - Pink foam if we could find it and glue a srtip of 1/2 inch neoprene (or sleeping bag pad ) to the top and bottom edges of the walls before we glued them in - this helped to keep the walls from getting beaten up when y...

Apple Line - Layup (long)
If I remember correctly the Duraflex layup was E-glass, Polyester or Nylon Cloth, and Kevlar with Vinylester resin. It was their "Training Layup" - You could beat it pretty hard and not totally trash the boat. It was not their heaviest layup, but was a lot more durable than their racing layup. The t...

Chine Wear and what to put on it...
Back in the old days we used to use a rubberized urethane paint to cover the worn areas. The paint is very thick right out of the can, so you have to thin it quite a bit. Apply multiple coats.

Hydra Centaur
Do yourself a favor - look for any other old Plastic C-1 rather than the Centaur. If you can find an old Gyramax - Great. The centaur has no edges, no real stability and is very slow. At least the gyramax has a flatter bottom and some initial stability. The only C-1 I ever paddled that was worse tha...

Re-coating
Gelcoat can be a bit tough to get a smooth coat on if you don't spray it. If it is a polyester gel coat, you will need to add wax so it doesn't stay tacky. If you are capable of spraying paint, I would suggest a linear polyurethane marine paint. They can be difficult to work with, but they are tough...

First boat, cockpit rim
Good luck on your first boat. Seaming in the mold is great, but if you haven't built a boat before, then go ahead an pop the two halves, tape it together and seam it out of the mold - at least for the first one. There is a great little trick to trimming a boat in the mold - If you catch it at the ri...
