Millbrook Inferno $650-On hold

Just packed the boat up to move west, so this boat is not for sale at the moment, but might be again in the future, we'll see. I bought this boat from ncdavid before the 2012 OC Slalom Nationals. At the time I thought I would be moving back to New England after I finished School, but it turns out th...

Re: Quick question on hanging storage for composite boat

Not with a composite boat, but I have used 10-20 feet of flat webbing (not tubular, it doesn't need to be that strong to justify the cost) to tie loops in. If you are concerned about squeezing the sides of the boat, you could drill holes in either end of two boards, and tie the webbing in a loop so ...

Re: Option Generations?

I have been seeing people claim "1st gen" and "2nd gen" etc, on sales posts. This is a bit confusing. My understanding is that the mold has been rebuilt a few times. I have a blue option, which most people would call 2nd-gen because it came out after the mold was rebuilt the first time. During the f...

Re: LL Stomper

Never paddled one, but it is Jordan Poffenberger's go-to creek boat. I get the impression that it rewards an aggressive paddling style/punishes a passive style similar to a Burn, although perhaps a bit less-so. Like I said, I've never paddled one, so that's all armchair quarterbacking.

Re: Help me choose a boat

Single biggest advantage? Not getting harrassed by other open boaters. 8) I haven't ever paddled with a kayak paddle in an OC, but there is a guy around here that does exclusively. I would guess that you probably get more power per stroke out of a Canoe paddle, because I assume you are using a long ...

Re: OC-1 for bigger driver

I know an old-school boater that isn't a big guy (probably 180 or less), but he loves his blast set up solo. Not my cup of tea, but if you prefer 13' boats, it is probably a good one to try.

Love it! At the NOC nationals, we accidently managed to make a vaild tandem class of only Octane 92's. That was my only medal, so please don't call them deluded!!!

Re: Compare Millbrook Shacho and Esquif Zephyr

I haven't paddled a Shacho, but assuming that it is not completely different than a Spark, I'd say they are radically different boats. The Zephyr really rminded me of an Ovation when I paddled one, and the Spark is a MUCH faster and faster-turning boat, but much more progressive transition from prim...

Re: ACA Swiftwater Rescue Conference

I won't be making it, but Walter Felton, one of the presenters, is a canoeist and a rafter. Of course, Charlie Walbridge is a C1er. My dad will also be attending, and he is an open boater. I don't know how early the crew from Arkansas (including Walter and my dad) will be arriving, but I can get you...

Re: Pumps

I have posted before about a story where a pump saved my boat from going further down stream, but Harry is right, they are not fast. A good rule of thumb is that pumps might be able to keep up with the water coming in while you are surfing.

I think I bought 54" bags from Kaz, and I wouldn't have wanted to go any smaller.
