... the link to the C-boats page on it: http://cboats.net/c_db/view.php?name=Pyrog&boat_id=173 This boat would have preceded both the Jungle and the Shubak. Unfortunately, although I've seen one before, I've never paddled it, so I can't comment personally on the design. John

... I have no blimey idea. cheers -isaac From what I gathered from Robin Bell's site, he drew from several slalom c-1 designs, but drew heavily on the Shubak. Here is a link I used to get that info. (just in case you ever wanted to know how the Loco came about, btw): http://www.robinbell.canoe.org.au/default.asp?Page=10309 ...

... boat down the Gauley next and get a splat-to-end-all-splats down at Postage Due . . . Speaking of splats and boat repair, I recently "cut down" my Shubak by "splatting" the wall of the Dickerson artificial course, which, as many of us know, is made out of 30 grit sandpaper. I lost control doing ...

... it full length or consider cutting it down. Robin Bell from Australia won the 2005 World Championships in a cut-down (formerly 4-meter) Galasport Shubak. Alden Bird paddles a similarly cut-down Shubak. The free Fanatic 2 is an older boat (1993), but the price is certainly right!! You might consider ...

... and then re-seaming the boat) was more than I wanted to tackle. I think that I would buy another used 4-meter boat of more recent design (e.g. a Shubak) before tackling that. The boat does seem to pivot a tad more easily, but I think that the main effect is just that it's shorter (e.g. easier ...

Just thought I'd add - I have quickly discovered that my new cut-down Shubak surfs incredibly well. It's way easier to turn on the wave than my old boat. It's so responsive too**. What a cool boat. You guys are lucky to be getting new slalom boats. Tom, I'm ...

... He is the current World Champ. Along with Galasport he has designed a new boat based on the Shubak. He is a big boy as well so this boat will be in an XL version, +90kg. Also, Tony Estanguet just released a new design, Makao http://www.galasport.com/catalogue/index.php?realm=product_detail&product_id=210 ...

... guess I've flipped over in cold water once too often). Anyway, I just changed slalom boats from a 1996 design to a fairly recent design (Galasport Shubak) and I must say - I cannot believe the difference. I have picked up about 10 seconds on 90 second courses. It turns without effort. It is so ...

More thoughts. . .

... have a few thoughts to share: - Sorry I missed the race, as it would have meant that Roy finished out of the medals and in 4th. - Attainments in a Shubak are easy, any old guy in 1 of those can pull them off. - Pat is just sneaky - Yes, there are faster OC2 teams out there, but there are none better ...

... Roy posted! I believe somebody owes me $20, please . . . (By the way, I am wondering what the attainments are like at Tariffville in a Galasport Shubak? Anyone? What if my hair is thining - does that effect the lefty moves?) Yes, Pat's boat was slightly leaky but it was way better than that Twister ...

Galasport C-1

Has anyone on here paddled Galasport boats before? I am looking at the new one, the Shubak. Has anyone paddled this boat? I am especially curious how it compares to older boats like the Fanatic, Zealot or Superglide?

I've never actually paddled one, but I do have several friends who paddle the Shubak. From what I understand, Galasport took the stern of the Jungle (which was very popular -- pivots on a dime!) and beefed up the bow to make the Shubak. So people find the bow punches ...
