Re: any c-2's for sale out there?

... 70s vintage rather than 80s. Center-cockpit C-2s had already come on strong in the mid-70s with the Gemini series. Late 70s into the early 80s the Paramax & ParamaxII were the dominant C-2s. By the 83' race season newer C-2s like the Torrent (followed by the TorrentXL in '84), the Triumph, and ...

Re: Boat of the Week - Hahn

A Sweet-Hahn was the first C-1 that I paddled; however, I didn't paddle it for long. As I primarily paddled slalom C-2 at the time (probably a Paramax II at that point), I actually missed the flat-bottom, hard chines, and edginess (all of which the Hahn didn't have) and moved quickly into an ...

... inherited since I have been judged to be the only local person who might be stupid enough to want to try to repair and paddle it. I think it is a Paramax, but I'm not sure.

Jim, you're certainly right. The Argumax (a/k/a Paramax II) was a substantial improvement on endhole C-2s and even on the Gemini series that launched the center cockpit C-2 designs. I'm not knocking it; it will certainly make a nice river cruiser. ...

Having built and raced a Paramax II back in the early 80s, I can say that, while you can cut down a Paramax to reduce its length, taking full advantage of the current ICF length and width minimums for slalom would be a whole different ...

Cutting down a C-2

I have an old fiberglass C-2 (maybe a Paramax) that is 15' long that I am considering restoring. It has been suggested to me to cut it down to the newer 4.1 meter (13.5') length. This seems appealing since some of the length, especially at the ...

... and saw examples of most of the rest of the series at one time or another; I don't recall any of the decks having a centerline peak. However, the Paramax (not the Paramax II or Argumax) did have a somewhat peaked deck, particularly if the builder made the center pillars a little too high and pushed ...

... identify a source other than the custom racing boats by Vajda and Galasport. The C2's I've been in I can give my opinion but not much expertise. Paramax - early to mid 80's C2 typically with slightly offset cockpits which really limited the possible tandem partners depending on the offset. It ...

If it is a Paramax I would say it is a good boat for river running. I paddle one down in WVa and they are easy to roll by one person and handle very well.

I'm guessing that the C2 is a shortened Paramax.

Adam: Was scanning some entries in the C-2 listings and happened to notice an error in the "Triumph" entry. The Triumph followed the Paramax II and came out the same season as the original Torrent (NOT following the Torrent XL, as currently listed). I distinctly remember Dave Paton & Al ...

For Sale: Paramax C-2 - Price Drop!

There is a 'Wausau '81' stencil on this boat, so it is at least that old. Has stern left offset cockpits. Race lay-up with no major patches, a good boat for someone starting slalom racing. Needs some cockpit rim/outfitting work. Outfitted with 3 nylon airbags (#4 is missing), weight 39 lbs, pictures...

Moved to grad school at Penn State, and started training/racing slalom with PSOC under John Sweet, moving to a Paramax II, Torrent (as one of the design team), & Torrent XL (again, on design team). Simultaneously picked up C-1 as an adjunct to C-2M, progressing ...

ultramax etc

Don't know what JRS did with his molds I guess you would have to ask him. All of my boats were black JRS boats. Including the C-2's (except the paramax, which was "local" -- ie, like #2 from the mold.) I still have 3 C-2s, none legal now, but I always refused to sell them as "sweetie boats". (No ...
