Re: Suggestions on solo whitewater playboat for heavy guy

Older design but I had one for many years-LL Jefe Grande. Most of the time I paddled it I was over 200, never quite to 220.

Re: Convertions - what's the state of the art?

Thanks Matt, I hope you had a good birthday recently (and that my memory is serving me adequately there). Mainly, I'd like to convert because I already have an almost new Jefe Grande and a huge sheet of foam in my parents garage. Being brutally honest still at the stage of life where I have to be " ...

Convertions - what's the state of the art?

Hi everyone, could you point me at what the current state of the art in converting kayak shells to C1 is? I've had about 2½-3 years out of boating (injury, work & family combined to just push boating to the side), right before I stopped I'd just bought a Jefe-Grande to replace the previous one which...

Re: Fluid solo large comparison

Never paddled a Solo, but a friend of mine who had one as a K1 called his the SlowLow. He sold it rather quickly. Wouldn't consider one for a C1 conversion. I have paddled the L'Edge extensively while guiding in Costa Rica and Mexico, so I can draw a few compariosons. No C1 conversion will have the ...

C-1 Creek Boats, time for a new one, what to get?

6’1, 195, paddle Green, Smokies, Linville..Anything that is running. Broke my Magnum 80 this weekend and need a new creeker. Lot’s of good older threads on C-1 Creek Boats but nothing recent. So I wanted advice from other C-1 boaters on what is working out there in the creek boat world. Please no sp...

Jefe Grande C-1 awesome condition $600obo

Awesome condition jefe grande. Boat barely has any wear. Bought from an older paddler who converted it and barely paddled it. I only paddled it a few weeks, before I had some horrible knee pain and doctor said no more c1. So now I need to sell. Text me for pics or email 770-876-4506 Jtlb2013@live.co...

Re: Has any one converted an LL Flying Squirrel 95

Hit up jeff edmonds (jededmon on this site) he did an exceptional job with one.

My guess is you already know him, or know of him. You work for OB? just guessing by your username and location. If so then you will have lots in common with Jefe.

Large Pyranha Burn C-1

Large Pyranha Burn converted to C-1 by Bernie Farley. The outfitting is brand new. The boat is a 2011 model. The boat is in good condition. No cracks or welds. Call Paul at 304-951-0707. Located in Charleston, WV. Could possibly work some sort of trade for a large, displacement hull K-1 creeker (Jef...

Re: jefe as a c1?

I'd say that if your paddling style suits it, the jefe/grande are two of the best c1's out there... but, it's led by the nose somewhat, so you have to stay on top of it all the time; want to carve a tight turn? you've got to use strokes on both sides to initiate and drive the boat through... Want to...

Re: jefe as a c1?

I am by no means a C1 expert, but I have a Jefe Grande C1 and I really like it. Haven't paddled any other C1's, so I can't compare, but I am 5'10", 140 lbs, and it's treated me pretty good so far. I open boat about 95% of the time, but do pull out the C1 every now and again.

Re: jefe as a c1?

Works well, I had one for some time, then moved up to a grande as i put on some muscle bulk (nearly 30#). I'll add more info later, on break at work currently.

Re: Officially converting to C-1

You're going to end up spending $50-100 on it - less if you have more raw materials (straps, buckles, foam), more if not. You probably will be tweaking it for a long time - less if you have somebody who has done it before who can help you out. I have been *really* pleased with how my Remix came out...

Re: Officially converting to C-1

I will second the Mystic as a creeker. Big, stable, comfortable, rolls easy. Has some edge, but at the same time is stupidly forgiving. I do have some issues holding a line in big, pushy water. That could, of course, be my utter lack of technique though. I'd be curious to try a Tuna Some boats that...
