This is now a very stale thread, but...

Re: Dagger Impulse 13’ Royalex Solo Canoe

I thought I saw your ad in craigslist and now its not there. Is your impulse still for sale? I live in No. Cal and will be driving through Eugene the beginning of August.

Re: smallest solo whitewater canoes with a seat option

You could order a 12' 8" Dagger Impulse with a kneeling thwart. Either a kneeling thwart and two thwarts or three thwarts. I don't believe a "seat" was an option but I could be wrong.

Dagger Ultrafuge C1?

Anyone ever seen one? I picked an Ultrafuge kayak up on Craigslist for 75 bucks (impulse buy  ) and now I don't know what to do with it. I weigh 180 so I might be to big from the beginning. Whoops! Perhaps it would be like a short C1 squirt boat, for me? Heh...

A consensus !

all I can say is... I agree.

At 205lb and 5'6" I had went from Impulse- Probe 12- Viper 11 and eventually- Occoee.

Moved out of the Impulse quickly.
Probe was next, stable, stood up to my intermediate skill learning, could have pushed it further.
Viper 11 next, beat me up for a long time, till I ...

Re: Help! Probe 11 question - how will it paddle for me?

Sam, I have a Viper 11 and have paddled it a fair bit on moderately technical stuff like the Tellico. I also owned an Impulse in prior years. The Probes are somewhat less edgy versions of the Vipers.

I agree with Paul. The Probe 11 is really an 11' 8" boat so it is closer to a 12' canoe than an 11 ...

Re: Help! Probe 11 question - how will it paddle for me?

I'd say buy it. I know several people your size who paddle Viper 11s which are relatively similar, but a little edgier, and they're the perfect size for their boats. If it's in good condition, I don't think you can go wrong here. It will be way better than an Impulse.

Help! Probe 11 question - how will it paddle for me?

Hi all,

I'm in need of a boat, as I'm borrowing an Impulse right now and it is a) borrowed, and b) I have outgrown it, paddling ability wise. I'm looking for a shorter boat, and a Probe 11 has come along for a seemingly good price, but I'm wondering if I'm too big for it. The asking price is 500 ...

Re: Performance Comparison: Vertige v. Rival v. Impulse

I agree with the others.

I now use my Vertige for self supported multi day whitewater runs and I've done the same in a Rival.

Re: Performance Comparison: Vertige v. Rival v. Impulse

At 5'8", 150 lb, I would encourage a smaller design than any of these...unless you plan to carry a lot of gear or paddle a lot of flatwater.
The Impulse is definitely more boat than this paddler would want.
The Rival is quick and responsive. The Vertige is stable and forgiving.
The Vertige would be an ...
