Re: Thoughts on Esquif Blast??
Nobody has mentioned a Millbrook Defiant (AKA Fat Boy). Or a Millbrook Outrage (not X) for that matter. (I've paddled and loved them both...)

Re: Twister Vs. Edge Thoughts from the Experts
... I can't remember if you or anyone else referred to the Defiant as the Fat Boy. Kaz or some of the early purchasers gave it that nickname. I don't think you would have to add 24" to be happy with the performance of an Ocoee. I think 12" to 18" would do it and would be so much more fun to paddle than ...

... for the HD1, and, I believe, the Flashback.
Twister was from a BatMax
Fat Boy (aka Defiant) from a CudaMax
Sweet had a bolt-on mold extention which made a Hahn hull mold into a OC-1
I have made open canoes out of Max II and Stealth hulls
I have always thought the ME had C-2 roots. I had a built-up ...

... to not over-influence the boat. My Millbrook Edsel (dead successor to the Fat Boy) sits very light on the water, and while that doesn't seem to affect edging, the boat can be unmanageable on a windy day.

Re: Rename the Stinkeye
 Just be glad you aren't the owner of a Millbrook Big Boy.
Sounds like a hamburger chain.
The Fat Boy was renamed the Defiant.
I call my Big Boy the "Edsel" because Kaz had trouble with the mold and may never make another.
But maybe a good name would be Avoirdupois ..

My Millbrook Big Boy would carry 290 just fine, but it's "glass" and designed for the Grand Canyon (lotsa big waves, few rock contacts), not so much for steep creeks. I've seen heavy guys happy in the Millbrook Defiant (formerly the Fat Boy) and ...

I went with a L'edge for my creek boat, but only because I am a fat boy and it is the fat boy boat. Any number of boats would work well for what you want.

Octane is 70 lbs +/-. I think you are a candidate for a Millbrook Big boy (Fat boy) or similar. Just don't take it down a slightly lubricated mountainside gully and you'll be very happy

... I tend to use short bags (30" in my MR Synergy, 48" in Millbrook Big Boy), but when I carry camping gear, it is in tapered kayak inflatable storage bags (Watershed and Voyageur). The fat end of each storage bag is tied down to the hull just ahead of the triple saddle, and the narrow end extends ...

... Morning wasn't as pushy as the afternoon. Plenty of challenge for this fat boy. Consequences of mistakes were negligible. Wear and tear on the Royalex (when the boat was being flipped or unattended in a squirrelly eddy)...but none on my dry top or wet suit. I'm ready to go back anytime.
