Re: C1 & C2 Boating

... Again the Viper is the exception as it actually responds better when you can push your weight into a stern squirt or pirouette. So there's the Blackwater and Magnet, two boats I know little about that might fill the bill for heavier paddlers. Oh, and the Storm Chaser which I know is a good ...

Re: surfc1

I used to surf my Blackwater regularly at the North Carolina beaches. Had a big advantage over surfboards in that you could catch waves much further out. This was because you could get up much better hull speed in a boat, even a c-boat. ...

Laura, Thanks for posting on here, and I'm sorry for you and your family. I will also pass this info along to some others that knew him. The Blackwater is a beautiful place, and a fitting place for a memorial. It's difficult to get down into the canyon on foot, but worth the effort for those ...

... who told Sally and she forwarded this link to me. Need to give more details later if that is okay but there is a memorial planned for Paul at the Blackwater Falls State Park (arrangements there not finalized) for October 28th 2017. He wanted his ashes deposited into those gorgeous waters he loved. ...

Also was probably the first open boater down the North Fork of the Blackwater and some of the other Canaan Valley steep creeks in WV, with lots of high water runs on the Blackwater and all the Cheat tributaries. Re: More exciting times for canoeing!

I loved the composite Occoee's that showed up on the Blackwater River, MT at the Slalom Nationals years ago.
A really fun boat, with more acceleration and speed, on top of all the original Occoee qualities.
Production is a great idea.

Re: Slalom C1 Comparison? Vajda MM Max, One, iScream

Ilya Stein borrowed the boat at the Blackwater and finished 2nd, so it couldn't be too bad. Kaz doesn't want to do closed boats any more (fume-wise inside seaming), but he may be persuaded to make the two halves. I also have angles that ...

Re: Slalom C1 Comparison? Vajda MM Max, One, iScream

Thanks, Bob. I didn't make it to the Blackwater, this weekend. Any comparative observations on the newer designs there? Also, I took a look at your CSX (hybrid) photos and videos. Is this a boat that Millbrook (Kaz) is able to make, if I'm interested in going that route?

GBaum,

If you are going to the Blackwater this weekend, there should be a couple of new designs to try out, including my hybrid (which I suspect is more appropriate for easy local races).

I sold an original Blackwater C-1 for 25¢ and a Grumman 17-footer for $1.00. My asking price was 5¢ for the Blackwater and 50¢ for the Grumman but the guys insisted on paying me more. 8)

Re: 2014 Worlds at Deep Creek - congrats to all who competed

Would have been much cheaper to stick around!

Savage River Canoe builds some very, very nice boats...

still not sure which we'll get (Susquehanna or Blackhawk).

Wish I could justify the Blackwater ... I took it for a paddle and was really blown away by out effortlessly it glides and paddles.
