I have actually found the rowing machine to be fairly effective in upper body conditioning... Its not as target area specific, but its great for the upper body, shoulders, and back, and also the lower body, so you won't end up looking like popeye

I regret to inform the c-boat community that dagger is also no longer making the pedestal. Kayak outfitting is sold out, but they're trying to get the mold. FOr the mean time, it seems that my favorite outfitting system is getting tougher to find....

the current rating system also doesn't take into conscideration the type of rapid. If you spend all of your time in big water class 5.0, say the upper gauley, you certainly aren't prepared for class 5.0 creeks... I'd gladly run my playboat down a big water class 5, like say Lost Paddle on the Gauley ...
