Re: Walk in runs and carrying an OC1 - what for a carry syst

Some cool ideas guys, thanks.
WildwaterC2 - can you send a photo of how you've got that set up? Trying to picture how that would work.

Cheers,
Matt

Walk in runs and carrying an OC1 - what for a carry system?

did my first walk in run for an age today and the black fly option is sweet to run, but hard to carry for an hour. Having moved back to NZ, I'm expecting to do a few more walk ins and was wondering if anyone has got a really good carry system for short open boats? Tweaked my neck a couple of years a...

A great reminder when it's been a couple of weeks since I was in my boat....

Thanks Jan!

Re: European Cboat Armada 2013, Berner Oberland, Switzerland

Gudday, Sorry for the slow response - was off paddling the 2 weeks since the Aramada and only just got back :-) Had a great time - amazing to have so many cboaters here in Bern. I think we raised the water level on the Simme on Thursday by having 60 canoes on the river at once! Scared a few locals o...

Re: European Cboat Armada 2013, Berner Oberland, Switzerland

Gudday y'all Camping will be at Camping Arnist in Oberwil, In the Simmental. Oberwil is a town just above the river, near Heidenweidli. I've talked to the campground, so no need to make your own reservation. Just let me know if you're coming, and if you plan to tent or have a camper/bus. Campsite de...

Re: European CBoat Armada 2012

Hi y'all I checked out the different camping options last weekend. Looks like the best possibility is the "rough camping" just above Heidenweidli. Plenty of space and right on the river, but no showers, etc. There are also hotel rooms (I think), or the GlobePaddler cabins (dorm style with kitchen an...

Re: Big Dog Force OC1 - Outfitting is finished!

Thanks Bob. I live between Bern and Interlaken (sort of), so you'll probably be passing not too far from here. I'll try to meet up. I'll PM my number.

Re: Big Dog Force OC1 - Outfitting is finished!

Hiya Bob, Do you know if anyone might be bringing a force over to the Engadine for the European Armada? I'd really be interested to try it out. Have you ever paddled a Pyranha M3 setup C1? That was my previous creeker. I loved the hard chines at the back and the way it let me snap the boat around an...

Re: European CBoat Armada 2012

Hi Savagekevin,

There is definitely class II and II-III sections on the Inn. Check out rivermap.ch:

Re: tandeming a solo

We've got a Mad River Rampage outfitted tandem. It was originally designed solo, but works great as a tandem for us. We're a pretty light team though (probably 250lbs).

If it's in good condition, then it could definitely be worth trying at that price...

Re: European CBoat Armada 2012

See y'all there!

And if you're cruising through Switzerland any other time, then I'm back in Bern and nearly always looking to paddle! It's been a long 2yr paddle-drought in the tropics and I'm looking forward to putting some more miles under my hull.

Canoe Tripping Australia Jan 2011

We were hoping to do a week long canoe trip in Australia in early Jan 2011. So far it looks like our best bets might be the the Nymbodia, Clark (in NSW) or Arthur Rivers (Tasmania). Does anyone know what conditions are like on these rivers in Jan? We know that parts of NSW are currently flooded but ...

Hi Motoari
That looks like a fun place to play (Mitake valley). I've never seen so many of Kaz's boats in one place when it wasn't a race. Awesome to see! Is there anywhere I could rent a boat if I make it over some time next year?
Cheers,
Matt

Inferno

Hiya Kaz Yep, I've got the Inferno here, but only used it on flatwater so far. I was up in the Chico region last week and the Chico is big water, so would be a great place to paddle the Inferno, except it's 12hrs drive from here. I wasn't sure what we'd find, so I took the Taureau as a more abuse-pr...
