Re: Prijon Delirious advice

I had one as a C1 and at about your weight. It was a lot of fun for all the reasons you mentioned, but for those same reasons, it made class 2 rapids very exciting! I sold it to a friend who is at about your former weight or a little lighter and he loves it. I wish they made one just a little bigger...

Re: EZG 60 Conversion Thoughts?

Sorry - just saw this. I'm your size, and the EZG-60 is a great C1. It's small enough to really throw around, yet large enough to be a decent river runner. I've had much better luck with it for bow stalls than stern squirts, but that's me, not the boat - although I will say that old school slicey bo...

Stolen xxx/C1 in six mile, SC

Sorry, I know there's a section for stolen boats, but I'm hoping people will be able to help with a friend's boat that was just stolen. The boat is a red, white and blue XXX C1, and was stolen from a barn in Six Mile, SC.

Re: Pumps

Jim - how about an inner tube from a big truck in an aluminum boat - that's not cheating is it? Oh, and an extra Sterns life jacket for a kneeling pad.

Re: Conversions and knee spread

I have a 79 Remix, and long legs (34-36" inseam). I've never felt a problem with knee spread. It's a fine boat for creeky runs and has better speed and holds a line better than my Nomad 8.5. A friend had a Diesel, but ended up switching to a Nomad and was much happier with it. I know several C-boate...

Re: any c-2's for sale out there?

I can vouch for the Hydra Duet (like the one in Wisconsin). I'm working on one now for the same reason as you (my 6 year old granddaughter will be my bow partner). It'll be a couple of weeks before mine is ready for the water, but you're welcome to try it out (I'm in Clemson).

Re: Open boats for sale

Herman doesn't get on here all that much, so I hope he won't mind my chiming in - they're in Liberty, SC (near Clemson).

Re: Hydra Duet

I agree with both posts. The 7" difference makes sense to me, too. And I do plan to put at least a 3" minicell wall between the cockpits. It has ethafoam walls at each end that are, surprisingly, still in good shape, but I may replace those with minicell, too. I've heard that the original boats had ...

Hydra Duet

I just picked up a well-used hydra duet, with the idea of putting my 6-year old granddaughter in the front on easy stuff. I'm going to completely redo the outfitting, and in the process of measuring the boat, I noticed that it's 52 inches from tip to cockpit rim on one end and 59 inches for the same...

Re: Winter paddling attire?s

Totally agree with Shep. The Michael Jackson look is the way to go. If you really want to use a pogie on the t-grip, just sew up one end of a kayak pogie. Campmor sells a nice pair of pogies for ~$20.

Overflow isn't an X is it? Nomad sounds like a great deal, but I already have one.

Re: Dagger Nomad 8.5

Agree with others, big Nomad is a great C1! I sit 7-8" forward in my Nomad and never had any trouble with a standard skirt, but I also have an IR Lucky Charm skirt modified for C1, and it's even better. Although the standard skirt works, it feels tight on the rim - the IR doesn't, and I also have mo...

Re: C1 Rolling and PFD advice

Thanks to everyone for all the great suggestions! I am guilty as charged of not getting out to 90 degrees. I paddle a lot of rocky shallow runs (hate the drought in SE US), and have purposedly started trying to roll with about a 45-60 degree setup to get up quick and not get too extended, but I gues...

Re: C1 Rolling and PFD advice

Hi Shep, Thanks for your advice, and I don't take it as a personal criticism. In fact, I won't stop trying to roll with the bulky pfd. But I will also find a pfd that works better for this boat (I don't have any problem rolling other boats with the bulky PFD) and my particular rolling style. I think...
