Re: Removing skin from minicell

Orbital sander with 60 grit is what I use. I have air and a Dynabrade though, so that makes it easier.

Re: Fiberglass Mold Making

If you're going to pull off an existing boat I'd suggest you go for an Ocoee. Apparently it's open season on previously Bell owned designs with the company folded, so if someone from Bell finally does catch wind of things at least you'll be in good company.

http://www.coldencanoe.com/" onclick="window.open(this.href);return false; You're right, Mike. Colden's making those Yost designs now. I've seen a couple of Flashfires with white gelcoats on the hull and the kevlar running up and wrapped around the gunwales to the inside. It's a strikingly cool deta...

Bell's been gone so long that Ted Bell is already back in business for himself again. I doubt he'll be making WW boats anytime soon, but the new trippers are just as great as they ever were.

Tow tether suggestions.

What do you all use for tow tethers on Type V vests? I'm getting ready for a swiftwater rescue course and it occurs to me that maybe the standard 4' cowtails are less than ideal when you paddle a longer boat. Most of the time I'm in an Option, but it'd be good to have a tether that works well in my ...

Option Generations?

Can anyone fill me in with the rundown of changes to the Blackfly Option over the years? I know there's a 1st, 2nd, and 3rd Generation (and rumors of a nearing 4th) and that the ends have been modified over time but some specifics would be great.

Re: Octane 85?

Right on. Congrats on the new boat and thanks for all your help answering my question. Post some pics of it for us when you get the chance. I'd especially like to see it in comparison to your L'edge since that's a boat I have at least some experience with.

Re: Octane 85?

So, painting with a broad brush and leaving out the tandem and playboats: The Option is more the displacement style serious creeker for the average size paddler, the Octane91 is for the larger driver and those wanting serious stability, and the Octane85 is more a downriver style aimed at the smaller...

Octane 85?

What's the story on the Octane 85? I know it's more of a planing design than the Option, but with so many seemingly happy Option paddlers, what's the point? Primarily for bigger paddlers like the Octane91 has been?
