Re: Question for Blackfly Option Owners

Canoeman61, I'd read your article before and had planned on contacting you via BT or GDI but since you posted here, I'll ask. Why the Octane over the Option, especially at your weight? As for me, I've never paddled a planing hull canoe. I paddled OC's for 20 years and then switched to butt boat in ...

Re: Question for Blackfly Option Owners

Laughing Out Loud! I guess I was really cheating in a 12-foot Outrage, but I still love that boat too, and I wish I still had my heavy L'Edge, which I preferred to the Lite one! As someone that drifts between 215 lbs and 250 lbs, here are my thoughts. I paddled an option for several years and the de...

Re: Question for Blackfly Option Owners

Hi I like the 91 because it is like the best of a long boat and short boat in one package. It is incredibly stable and dry, yet rolls quite easily if you do manage to get knocked over, which is not easy to do! As I mention in the article, I was using an Outrage as my boat of choice on harder (class ...

Re: Add to the list of ALF rivers, creeks

Make sure you spell these correctly: Watauga and Tremont. Add Big South Fork, Cheoah, Greenbrier, Big Laurel Creek, Spring Creek, Chattooga, Greenbrier, Nantahala, Nolichucky and French Broad You might also want to add to list a (thinking positive rain thoughts) these creeks: Santeetlah Snowbird Sli...

Re: Question for Blackfly Option Owners

You can't go wrong with either one. I assume you are asking about the Octane 91 vs. the Option. I prefer the Octane and I have both the 91 and the 85, and at 180 the big boat is incredibly dry, but so is the little one. Here is an article I wrote on the 91: http://www.canoekayak.com/canoe/lets-be-bl...

Pristine like new 99 Outrage

in near perfect condition. This is the good Royalex before they made it light and flimsy and before Confluence Kayak Corp. wrecked the brand. Outfitted with Mike Yee straps and saddle, I believe. I bought this as a replacement hull and need the cash for another boat. $900 or I'll keep it.

I have only been in one for a few minutes but it was very difficult to flip over and very ease to roll up. I hope so, as I am getting a new one!

Re: What are some airbags that fit an Octane 91

Thank you for your responses. Yes, you are correct, a set of single layer Fall Line bags is $250, which is competitive with and a much better deal than Harmony bags, which I have found do not last. That being said, I have had very good luck with Mohawk bags in the past so I will be contacting you, R...

What are some airbags that fit an Octane 91

I know, Fallline is best, but I am not sure I can shell out at least $300 for bags. Are there other bags that will fit in the big blunt ends? It is a new gen Octane so not quite as wide as the old.

2013 Lite L'Edge for sale

I am selling my 2013 Lite L'Edge, which I have had about six months and paddled a half dozen times. It is fully outfitted with a really cool configuration for the electric pump, which is built into the saddle. No cracks or welds, bottom is well scraped up, mainly from the previous owner. $1,100. I a...
