Re: Time for a New Boat

So, a little late, but if you're still looking, here are some that others didn't mention. NorthStar Canoes makes a composite Ocoee. Clipper Canoes have the Viper 11 and 12 molds. You'll have to call them to make the order, but they're very easy to work with and will ship it to you. I also really lik...

VIPER 12 WANTED! HAVE CASH! WILL TRAVEL OR SHIP!

Hey All! I'm looking for a Viper 12. I have one in composite made by Clipper, but I want a royalex one because I'm getting tired of crying every time I hit a rock. It makes it hard to see the next rock, and if I hit that one, I cry more, and so on and so forth. Currently located in CA, but willing t...

Re: Advice for fully restored 1951 Old Town Canoe

Contact Old Town Canoe.
That canoe you've got is 70 years old now...they might want it for their museum and could probably give you an estimate.
Good luck.

Re: Wenonah Recon - Anyone have one?

Impossible to answer without knowing how far the back of your saddle is from your butt. I'd worry more about where the boat trims. I tested one at one point, and seem to recall it handled the best when paddled with weight placed in the precise center. If you're going to frequently carry gear in fron...

Old School Canoes, Boy Scout Whitewater Canoe Video, August 2019 Klamath River

Fun video link! This is a group of Scouts in CA that I help out on their annual whitewater trip. They make the video for themselves, so the actual whitewater footage mostly starts around 3:30 or so in, but its a fun video that showcases how you can still run class II-III water in really old-school d...

Re: Superlite and Lite Spanish Fly from Esquif

Very cool to see some of Frankie's designs back in production!!
Spanish Fly is too small for me,
but if you start making Vipers I'll buy a 12. ;)

Looking for ANOTHER OC (maybe 2) in CA/OR

Seems like almost every spring I'm on here looking for another boat. It may be time to admit I have a problem. In this case though, I'm actually looking for a friend. He's looking for his first OC-1, he's been paddling my old boat for years but its really on its last legs...uh...fins, flippers...wha...

Re: DRY SUIT RECOMMENDATIONS

Thanks for the advice!
I don't like spending extra money, but I always will for quality. It's why there's now a Clipper-built Viper 12 in my garage. That will narrow my search quite a bit.
Any specific brands that stand out though?

DRY SUIT RECOMMENDATIONS

So, for reasons unknown, I've always just toughed it out with wetsuits/polypro/and generally been cold while paddling in spring/fall. I've decided I've done that for long enough, and I'm going to go with a drysuit, especially since I now live on the ocean and I've been doing some surfing in my canoe...

Re: Mad River Outrage Bags

Assuming it is an original Outrage, 60" bags will fill it fairly thoroughly. 72" is probably overkill...but you will want 72's if its an Outrage X.

Viper 12.
Clipper will still build you one.
There isn’t a hotter boat for 220 plus.
