Re: Warm Feet
Haven't paddled that cold. At 36 degrees, I was absolutely comfortable wearing over-the-calf merino wool socks under my drysuit with neoprene booties over. Merino wool is my favorite cold-weather product. It's wicking and warmth are unparralelled in my book.

Re: ALF (Class II - III)
My son (15 yo) and I will be there to paddle Saturday thru Monday or Tuesday. We'll be looking for class II-III. We ran Middle Tellico (Turkey Creek on) last weekend. We will be in a silver Dodge Ram with a green Option and a red and yellow swirl Option. We are also staying at the Sweetwater KOA.

It's hard for me to imagine that there are that many parents putting kids 6-12 y.o. in solo canoes on moving water. Seems to me to be a very small ...

Re: viper 11 vs option
If you're looking for stability, the Option is much more foregiving than the V11. I had my worst day ever on the river in a V11 and was ready to quit. My next outing I was in an Option and was hooked. I went from zero whitewater experience to paddling the Ocoee on my 16th day on any river. That's ...

Re: Option vs Octane 91
I'm 6', 190 and feel perfectly comfortable in the Option. I don't think your size alone would warrant moving up to the Octane.

Re: Blackfly Ion as first boat??
Only input would be if you haven't already tried the Option for comparison you might want to paddle one before making the purchase. Option is easy to ferry, dry, and faster.
