Re: Comparing new OC-1 solos for 200+lbs

A 20/20 is a good choice. My first whitewater boat was a woodstrip Stinkeye (Blink) that I added 6 inches to in the middle, sort of a 20/30 (or 20/15 depending on the perspective) :D I still love that boat, it only gets hauled out of the barn for special occasions like Gualeyfeast but then it winds ...

Re: Comparing new OC-1 solos for 200+lbs

I have finally added a Condor to my list of big boy boats paddled so I feel that I can make an evaluation: I currently weigh in at around 250lbs. Option - Great Creek boat for <220LBS Paddlers. Wet for anyone heavier. Agent 88 - I paddled the last prototype. Quick, forgiving. Good Creeker, maybe a l...

Re: Outfitting advice for an old Rival?

Hi Dan, I just looked at your photos and read your story, good stuff. Your Rival should be a good boat to get started, I would say it's worth the effort to fix. I'll see what I can do to address your questions. I love bulkhead saddles, I truly do, they are my favorite. Having said that, if I had a r...

Re: Mad River ME Questions

The ME was built to be a solo boat, the Caption a tandem boat. Load capacities are directly relates to this. ME kakes a poor tandem.

Re: L'edge Superlite

I didn't paddle one but I unloaded one from my bus and I can say that they are crazy light weight and do exist. As I pulled it out Willow Mason's boat I said, "wow, that's light!" The guy standing next to me says, "wait till you lift my c1." As I unloaded his c1 it was apparent that the weight was n...

Re: Ledge or octane

Both the option and octane 85 would be stable for you at your weight. The option as a semi displacement hull would almost certainly be more predictable and forgiving for the rivers that you like to run than the edgie planing hull octane 85. You should also try a Covert if you can, you may really lik...

Re: Ledge or octane

Alright, I know that Wendy has paddled most if not all of the modern plastic boats but let me offer my $0.02 on them. Option - Semi-Displacement Hull - Good all around boat/creeker that is run as a primary boat by many people on everything from creeks to big water. Best suited for folks under 180lbs...

Re: Strip and refinish Royalite?

I don't think that dynel will give you the results that you want even with vacuum bagging, it soaks too much resin. If I was to add an outer protective layer I would try epoxy with graphite powder mixed in, makes it a cool stealth black and a little slicker.

Re: Your Favorite Road Trip Vehicle

Not to sound like a broken record but a van is hard to beat. A lot depends on how much gear you are dragging along as to the size of the vehicle. From my experience most small fuel efficient type cars don't like to be overloaded and doing so kills the fuel savings of the too small vehicle, so gettin...

The O91 is a cheater boat, cheater for fun!!! I guess if choosing I would go stern heavy but let us be real, there is no wrong trim. Go, paddle, have fun.

It was a bit damp but it helped keep the novice throngs off of the Middle Yough :D

Good day of slalom racing. Turnout was not large but such is the state of slalom these days. Looking forward to seeing more of y'all there next year.

Re: Questions concerning new L'Edges manufactured by Liquidl

1. If a person orders a new L'Edge are they guaranteed to be ones molded by Liquidlogic? Or does Equif still have older L'Edges in stock it is sending out? My friend definitely is interested in a LL molded one. Easy answer for this one, for certain any L'Edge Lite that is not Yellow or Purple and a...
