Re: L'edge vs. Blackfly Octane 85

My wife (5' 2") got her Octane 85 this summer after having the chance to demo it alongside the Option on the Nantahala. She went from not wanting to run the falls in the Option to styling it in the Octane 85. She has done very little to adjust the outfitting and is happy with the fit. I would just a...

Nothing fancy but the family wagon gets us on the water with our 3 boys (and a bike shuttle to boot).

Re: Boat Storage

Lacking a garage I built a shed in our back yard a few years back. The width is almost a hair to long to accommodate shorter boats and the roof (corrugated tin) needs more pitch to shed the leaves better.

Trailer advice

Looking ahead to next summer (& beyond) when we'll be back on the water in 3 boats with our 3 boys, I am starting to ponder purchasing/rehabing a boat trailer. For the moment, we can get all 3 boats and gear on/in our Honda Odyssey but that doesn't leave any room for camping gear. What we're ultimat...

SOLD Dagger Ovation - AVL NC

Good shape, normal wear & tear. Ash gunwales, seat belt style thigh strap. Stored in our boat shed. This was my wife's starter boat and she is ready to step up. Asking $450 Local pick up - or I can bring it to ALF if you aren't in a hurry. Pictures: https://picasaweb.google.com/losflemings/Ovation?a...

Re: Pumps

I remember when you were considered a wimp if you paddled a Royalex boat equiped with flotation and thigh straps. Real paddlers only paddled 17-foot Grumman aluminum canoes without any stinking flotation. Now we're starting over with the pump issue? Let's be real! The cover photo of Will Leverette'...

Wood strip solo canoe $700???

One of a kind canoe. Hand-built by my father working with a neighbor who had a wood canoe shop for a while. This was ‘designed’ using the frames from a tandem canoe and just taking out the middle. Redwood, cane seat, fiberglass on interior, brass bow/stern protectors. I will confess that it is not t...

Re: ALF (Class II - III)

Bringing my wife for her first time and our tandem boat - purple Probe 14. Mid Tellico, Clear Creek, Obed-Emory offer good II-III options. See you at Shoney's.
There's also a crew from Ontario that tends to stick to that level and we'll be meeting up with them.
