last couple years Cascade Outfitters has been setting a slalom course just below Otters Slide Rapid on the NF Payette class V section. don't know about next year though, might check in w/them before the event...would be pretty cool to add a slalom race option along with whitewater park, river ...

Sweet! there's also a playspot down by the hot springs, not world class but i've always enjoyed it. This area is on the swirly canyon section of the SF Payette too. Looking forward to this for next summer!

I think big water has two components. Scale and Strangity. Scale has to do with size of boat vs size of river. Strangity has to do with your ability to anticipate the rivers changes. Flooding rivers/creeks have high strangity because the river bed is changing. Big wide rivers always make me feel ...

Count me in for competing and helping with an OC slalom event in the northwest or western US. I'm in the seattle area and have started racing OC1 and K1 in the NW cup this year. Havent seen many other open boats at the races though...a few at the bend oregon race and the most was at the missoula race.
