I voted 10'. I have an Atom and like it a lot, I do have some complaints about the boat but the length is nice, I really like its speed compared to shorter boats like most modern conversions. I see the appeal of Gyramax length boats and their even greater speed, but I wouldn't purchase one personall...

I use a pair of neoprene socks/booties with a thin rubber sole. I forget the model but I think it's another company's equivalent to the NRS Desperado http://www.nrsweb.com/shop/product.asp?pfid=2348&pdeptid=1168 They're better than neoprene socks without any rubber sole added, but they don't grip as...

Check out the Broadback. Completely isolated from start to finish, with a beautiful waterfall and up to class 5 BIG water, depending on the level.

I have a lapbelt+thigh strap system in my Atom... Both straps and lapbelt have easy to release cam buckles, but I can wiggle my way out of the boat even with the lapbelt still tight. I wouldn't want to use a system that I would need to release to get out of the boat... even being able to get out of ...

Agreed. Just don't let the water catch those edges in a way you aren't expecting and you'll be fine. Lean aggressively wherever leaning is appropriate, this will keep the edges doing what they're supposed to despite their "catchy" characteristics. Beware of the boat becoming submerged, including the...

The Spark is a fun boat, real fast and pretty responsive. Depending on your weight, I think, it can feel pretty unstable though. This obviously isn't the only factor in stability, but if nothing else at 24" wide it's one of the skinniest OC-1's I've paddled.

The way I taught myself to roll was to simply brace lower and lower and lower... eventually, I could go over to my offside so far that I could be stationary, 180 degrees upside down, and I could still brace myself back up. At that point it's basically a roll-- from there all I needed to do was wrap ...

I think 200 lbs may be a fine weight for the Atom, actually... I'm about 160 pounds but enough of it is in the water for sure-- even at my weight which I gather is very light for the boat, it's still very "edgy", and the stern edges at least are under the water most of the time anyways so a heavier ...

The atom's weird for sure, but I like it... it seems that a lot of creekboater types can't get used to it's twitchiness (and lack of volume)... at the same time a lot of slalom boater types don't get why you'd pretend to make a fast edgy boat but then make it weigh 50 pounds and chop 3 feet off it. ...

I love the Atom and if it were just a C-1 version of the RPM I'd highly recommend converting the RPM... but I'm not sure I'd call it that at all. I've heard it called the C-1 version of an RPM many times, but 1. it's almost a foot longer, still over 6 inches longer than the RPM max 2. it's another 2...

I can easily do this kind of a roll in my Gyramax-- in fact that's what I learned before I learned what you might call a "roll" with a setup, basically a low brace delayed so late that your boat's all the way upside down. It's not that solid feeling or reliable though because obviously without the p...

I don't really know about that problem and I haven't seen it... but I'd probably agree with you that if you're treating it the same way as you've treated your other boats, then there is probably something wrong with that specific boat's gunwales, either a material or molding problem that just makes ...

How different does the Detonator feel from a Nitro? I am really light for a Nitro (150) so I guess a bigger guy in the smaller Detonator may have different results. But, I find the Nitro to be anything BUT squirrely, I call in "the Tank"... I haven't paddled it alongside my C-1 which is what I'm mos...
