I'm with Clarion on this one-- use the amazing Multi tool. I'd go with the half-moon fine tooth blade.

They should certainly sell just the "kit", and here's an idea-- a "conversion" where you can cut a kayak paddle in half and attach C-1 conversion handles. It follows this same line of thinking of taking an otherwise useless shape and converting it into something usefull.

That's one cool canoe! You're going to have to upgrade from that Norse just for aesthetics if nothing else. With all that blade surface on a Norse I'll bet you'll spend most of you paddling effort doing correction strokes.

Why not keep the wood theme going and build your own paddle? 56" should be ...

Richard I totally agree. Last year was one of the most fun and also most rewarding days I've spent in a canoe. Unfortunately I have to work this weekend and can't make it but if any of you can I'd urge you to participate. You'll be glad you did.

Spruces have a higher strength to weight ratio than any other softwoods. White spruce is used for masts, flagpoles and such.

You are probably right about the names, though I'm pretty sure he called this proto the Double Edge at the time. I dropped out of the racing scene after about '87 when we hosted the Nationals at the Ocoee.

Frankie called that design the Double Edge. He and Billy Keen (does anyone know what ever became of Billy Keen?) showed up at the Mulberry Fork races in March of '85 with three strip canoes- 1st and 2nd Edge protos and the Double Edge proto.
