Hey Smurf,

No worries, go with whatever works for you. As noted, I quit the game and don't have a dog in the fight. Just sharing a different perspective. Nothing pissy intended.

Peace - Eric

Canoe Colorado is still in business, Jerry's running it all now. He's got pretty much at least one of everything in stock or on order. I know I helped place an order last September for 3 L'edge plus several other boats, but as of last week I don't think Esquif ever shipped them.

Just a quick comment concerning some side effects of your plan. I'm no longer directly associated with the Colorado Esquif dealer, but having been there for many years take my comments for what they're worth. The western states Esquif dealers do what they can. Having someone come in claiming to be a...

Esquif Canyon would suck on lakes, which is one think the OP wants to paddle on. It's great in moving water - class III. The Pocket Canyon is perhaps a hair larger than a Caption, again very poor lake boat and I'd go with the full size brother if you're into waves of any size. Would be better than t...

http://wenonah.com/products/product_images/wenonah_cascade926_cust.jpg http://wenonah.com/products/template/product_detail.php?IID=29 I'd suggest a We-no-nah Cascade. It's a wilderness tripper, which means it's good for everything from big lakes to class III. Prospectors are also good, with the fam...

The 8" Odyssey was only on the market for a year. Blade size is way too big for general touring, and whitewater paddlers prefer the Edge. If you're buying it for an adult to have massive bite on the water, it's a great price. For kids, not so good. You won't be able to trim it down without changing ...

The term "canoe" has been in the English language much longer than "kayak".

I think it was the Adirondacks waterway that defined it best.

Drill the hull Just mark your spacing so you don't have a hole directly under a gunwale screw hole. No need to have duplicate stress points. Contrary to a comment above, ABS foam will not wick water. The only concern with exposed foam is that it becomes stiff/ brittle with air exposure. However you ...

I come to this board to find useful paddling information. Not to sort through a pile of ego driven nonsense. There are other places online to be idiots. I have no interest in Howard Stern or his wannabes.

If someone got kicked off the board for breaking the very simple rules, good riddance.

We had the worst mosquitoes from Moose Ponds to where the Little Nahanni flows in above Island Lakes. Full bug suit, thick shirt/pants and heavy gloves. When you wiped your rear it would be red from smeared mosquitoes. Island Lakes to Virginia Falls we almost always had hot/ dry camps and no bug prob...

Where are you putting in? Moose Ponds (my preference) has a few interesting rapids, I'd want the Legend over the Venture. Honeymoon/ Island Lakes on down is pretty much flat and even in the lower canyons you can run just about anything if you stay to the side of the waves vs in the middle of the tra...

What type of plane? Planes like Twin Otters can normally take the boats inside. It doesn't have to be a perfect nest, but they'll have to somewhat set one inside the other (just remove thwarts, no need to do end caps). If it's a Cessna they'll want to strap the canoe on the outside between the ponto...

Not sure what I'm missing, but Einars posts don't seem to make contextual sense.

Spambot? Language issues? Accidently replying to the wrong post?

You're probably NOT screwed The heat it up method is much safer, but there are hundreds of boats that have been outfitted following the directions on the can without problem. If memory is correct the can says apply in very thin layers. If you did that, no worries. If you gobbered it on thick.... Lik...

I'm using some 14.7V 5600mAh Li Ion batteries. LiPO sucks in the cold, they'll totally lose charge. LiION are good to go. Technically both are Lithium, but they're chemically and functionally different. LiPO is smaller/ lighter, but the lose charge in the cold aspect makes them unsuitable for most p...
