Thanks to Rod for the promo. Price on the Discovery is reduced to $300. Great boat for crashing around. Sorry no cooler, but I'll throw one in for free. Got make room in the condo for a Taureau. The polyethylene hull is pretty indestructible. You can write me @ wjblatner@hotmail.com if you are inter...

I've never paddled a Spanish Fly but I have gotten a couple of days in a Taureau. It felt like it was made for me. Super stable, rolls easily. The bow and stern grab or release leaning forward or back so you can keep from getting blown out on a peel out or turn it on a dime. I really loved the Taure...

Though not an expert, I'll put my vote in for the Spark. I've been paddling one for about 2 years now. Nice and light and it fits into eddies better than a "long boat" (though some consider it a long boat - maybe based more on the shape than actual length.) I love the acceleration and responsiveness...

Thanks everyone, I guess I wasn't clear about locations. I live in MA, near Zoar OUtdoor. But if my nephew was out here I'd take him myself. His location is Western NY, a bit south of Buffalo. I'll check out FLOW and also the Zoar Valley Paddlers club and the suggestion for Cboat members locations i...

Help starting a young guy on C1 in WNY

Hey y'all, I was visiting my mom in Springville NY this weekend and took a Slasher along to play in the pond. My 15-year old nephew was very interested and spent a solid hour learning to carve an on-side circle paddling on the inside. After his ankles recovered he got back in and started working on ...

Regarding that breakaway hull. This was how it was described to me by Andrew Westwood, one of the designers. Let's say you're pulling out of an eddy into current and you don't want to get snapped around, or you want to change from on on-side to an offside circle. If you lean back the bow lifts clear...

What's the outfitting like? Foam bulkhead or leg straps?

Is this a production model or one of the early protos? Does it have combing to fit a skirt?

Interested in the details.

Thanks,

Bill

Man I'm really interested in this discussion. I love my Mitchell carbon fiber, but never thought much about flex and the effect on joints. My control hand shoulder might thank me for using something a bit more giving. A year and half after surgery I still get more stiffness and neck pain than I'd li...

Not trivial in my mind! Especially getting back in and rolling. I'm rethinking my whole approach to outfitting these days and having a bulkhead vs. leg straps is looking better and better. The Esquif rep, Olivier, that I met on the Deerfield River in MA a month ago talked about the that re-entry mov...

Heidi, Unfortunately, there was little holding the bracket in. The ABS inside layer was cracked right around and the foam ripping. I took it out and did ABS paste reinforced with fiberglass inside and out. It's still a little soft in that spot. I'm going to add some more fiber glass inside to tie it...

Very good condition. Cane seats need a little work, but I kneel mostly anyway. Great tripping boat - rivers or flats. Very sturdy. Holds two adults, two kids and week's worth of gear and supplies.

NOrthampton MA. $500.
