Re: New Prototype boat from Shaggy Designs

We looked at a variety of modern slalom boats from several manufacturers to get an idea of what we would do to achieve our goals - it is not based on any particular boat. It is still a work in progress, and that seamline is probably going to be modified slightly in the next prototype, getting a bit ...

New Prototype boat from Shaggy Designs

Hi, It has been a while, but we are again in the process of designing another boat! This time a slalom C1 for the larger paddler. Re: Source for wood t-grips

Agreed, forstner bits are the way to go, clamp securely and drill slow. Going all the way through the T is OK, as you can put a wooden wedge in for a stronger join. Picture of some here;

Re: New Zealand--C1?

Hi Pea-Pod, I think that I may have already contacted you via email, but just in case; NZ is fantastic boating, but you will not find many C1 padddlers there. I know of 3 or 4 in the entire country. Try Paul Eames at the Mangaweka Adventure company - he is a slalom paddler, and might be willing to d...

Re: Kelly-Rand's Storm Chaser

We use a rigid glassed-in bulkhead in some of our boats that have a high cockpit rim. It seems to work well, and gives the boat a lot of rigidity without much increase in weight. They can be made using a couple of layers of rigid-foam insulation covered with 2-3 layers of glass and epoxy (polyester ...

Re: New Freestyle OC1?

Cool, thanks for the comments all of you. Andy was using one of our foamcore carbon paddles on a cranked wooden shaft. Andy made the shaft as he has a woodworking business, and I put the blade on it for him. Andy is not a big guy, so the boat that he is paddling would be the smallest version. There ...

Re: Cboat Armada May 16, 17 and 18 during 2014 Rendezvous

I will almost definitely be in attendance, and will have some boats with me;
Sith (probably)
C2 (maybe)
new prototype (probably not - too cold to even think about geting resin out yet)

See you all there.

Hi Harrry, Not a Skreem, but here are some images of the outfitting in my boat. Hope this is useful. If you can get away with a slightly higher saddle, you do get more leverage, but whatever is comfortable and works for you. Re: Questions about New Zealand

Hi Peapod, I don't paddle open canoe in NZ, strictly decked boats for me. I have never seen anyone in an open canoe here - ever! I know they exist though; mostly as rentals for the Whanganui river journey (3 days of G1). Like I said, there are a few of us that paddle decked C1, which is much more ap...
