We own this boat but have not yet paddled it. Rumor is that the original Volcanoes were not big enough; this is a re-design, bought later in the summer of '05. The design team inlcudes the two-time gold medalists, the Hochschorners. The XL is recommended for our size, two 170 pounders. The Hochshorners will probably have a somewhat tweaked 2006 model, too. Note that the "420" refers to the length in centimeters; no one seems willing to build C-2's at the minimum, yet, though in my personal opinion they will. We liked our old Vajda C-2, and this boat looks similar enough that we don't think the learning curve will be too steep. Some say that the shorter boats will speed up the C-2's more than the other classes. JPM (Jamie McEwan)
