Hold your horses,
There's still the 2011 worlds in Plattling before that, so the only confirmed qualifiers will be for this years world cup and the next worlds.
Importantly, Is the NOC feature going to be a good one for the OC1 class? The Thun wave wasn't exactly a gift.
EDIT: There is apparently a big hoo-ha about the ICF having chosen an "OK" feature (can't vouch, don't know it) based on having world class facilities again; There seems to be a significant pull towards the ideals of the IOC; which isn't exactly in the spirit of paddling or rodeo as I've known it.
I wonder what the "Big Wave Worlds" that were talked about in Dream Result will become (if anything) and whether the C1 commuinity ought to get in on it. _________________ Joshua Kelly

The NOC wave has had it's ups and downs. The time I was there, it was pretty fun. For a small spot, it's pretty dynamic, and when it's good, it's pretty good. Then again, i like Thun too... The problem with the NOC wave right now is it's constructed by the locals by piling up rocks to channelize the water. When they do get high water, which doesn't happen very often becuase the river is dam controlled, the rocks wash away and they have to do it all over again. The upside is that the river turns off every night, so it's not too hard for them to rebuild it and tweak it. The plan is to make the feature permanent for Worlds. It's not going to be the most epic, hardcore spot ever, but it'll be good.
Regarding Team Trials, it's a long way off. I can't imagine having US Team Trials anywhere other than the NOC wave, and I'd guess it'll be spring of 2013.
In the mean time, there's an event there this coming weekend (Apr 17-1 . We need three OC-1's to make a class. I'll be there, as will Jake, so we'll only need one more- and I'll have the Blackfly demo with me. We also need to make sure that OC-1 is well enough represented at Plattling that the ICF will continue to let us play along. _________________ Blackfly Canoes |

Anyone other than Jeremy and Jake show up at the NOC Shootout this weekend to compete in C1 or OC1? _________________ Esquif Canoes Paddler-Designer-Shape Shifter |

We had 5 competitors in OC-1- the most I've seen outside of a World Championships. Dane Jackson ended up winning the OC-1 class, paddling Jake's boat. The hole wasn't at it's best (I've seen it a lot better)- flushy and pretty tough to make it back up the eddies, but we still had fun.
We also had 7 people competing in C-1, which is a very good turn out. _________________ Blackfly Canoes |
