Want to Buy - Esquif Canyon, Legend or Starburst

I'm looking to pick up a used Dagger or Mad River Legend or Esquif Canyon or evergreen starburst or a similar, grade 2-3 whitewater river tripping canoe. I live north of spokane in Nelson, BC but would consider a road trip or shipping for the right canoe. Kalispell, ...

... that I've ever done such before.)) My son and I made a cargo net out of webbing that was very similar to the one in your picture. Used it in our Starburst. Worked great and could be used to cover gear or a centre air bag. dave

For the moment, I am totally satisfied with my 3, which include:

Evergreen Starburst - river tripping boat (slightly painful on flatwater)

MR Caption - tandem whitewater (have used for up to 4-day river tripping)

Esquif L'Edge - solo whitewater

... colour a bad name. It doesn't make sense to me that the pigment added to a thin vinyl layer could make any discernable difference. I have a yellow Starburst that's holding up the same as my red Vertige and purple Outrage.

30" in the front, 36" in the rear. This is what I have in my Starburst which is essentially the same boat. Anything more in the front and the bow paddler may not have enough leg room if you use the boat for tripping. Get the largest center bag you can find if doing serious playboating

What makes those others "playboats" if the Starburst isn't? I have a Mad River Synergy and a Millbrook Big Boy, and I wouldn't call either one of them a playboat. You can monkey around in them a little better than in a Starburst, but playboat?

That's a lot of weight for a Caption, VertigeX or other 14er ww boats that do get wet at midships. Might need to go bigger.

No experience with the XL 15 or Pocket Canyon, but might be worth a look. Otherwise, as above Canyon/Starburst or Dimension.

starburst is my preference for a full sized boat. otherwise, I'm a pretty big dude and have paddled some in the Esquif Vertige X with passengers who weren't tiny. we weren't a combined 500 lbs...but still, it was completely ...

... This doesn't give you a whole lot of flotation if the center of the canoe fills with water. I second the advice regarding the centerbag. In my Starburst, we have installed cages for end-bags and for a large centrebag. We have used a "cargo net" made out of webbing to restrain the centre bag. ...

Thoughts on the Mad River ME?

... deal on an ME instead. Our intent is to paddle tandem ww, focusing on class II-III, smaller rivers and streams, a bit sportier than my bluehole starburst. We're a relatively light tandem pair (155# stern, 135# bow). I'd appreciate any thoughts.
