Re: Which C1 for this open boater?

... the time. I'll second getting a slalom boat (used) cut for your weight. You'll be much happier. I know that since i picked up my (now old school) Fanatic 2 my atom sits most of the time. I'm not saying the Atom is a bad boat, mind you - it isn't. But at your weight it is a bit challenging. IMho ...

... the narrow bow improved my strokes. I eventually became proficient, and now I am comfortable on runs like the Dryway (Deerfield). I also tried a Fanatic and found it much more stable than the Slasher. Mine still gets use because it is easy on my shoulders in the spring when I am working on getting ...

... Zealot that "feels" smaller even though it is a 4 meter boat - but the zealot is a fun boat. I would definitely stay away from superbat, extrabat, Fanatic - much smaller, thinner bow.

Re: Which slalom boat??

I do encourage you to consider a Maverick Plus as it has some of the most volume of slalom boats. Also take a look at a Fanatic 2 (a Fanatic hull with volume added to bow). Davey Hearn's Dynamic or a Super Dynamic may be worthwhile and also add that Zealot to the list of boats to try. ...

Martikan's boat was based on the Fanatic, but he was only about 140 lbs at the time - so it was specially cut just for him

Re: '96 Ocoee blast from the past

That makes me wonder. The 92 Fanatic (Fanatic 2) is a Fanatic with more volume added to it specifically for the '92 Olympics. So my question is, does a cut-down 92 Fanatic revert back to being a Fanatic? Or was Martikan's Fanatic modified ...

Boat of the Week - Dagger Atom

... squirt it but had fun trying. Front surfed OK, side surfing could be a bit dynamic with the flat top deck. When I purchased an Acrobat then a Fanatic II I found I didn't paddle the Atom much. Too heavy, too slow, and the volume in the tail for my weight tended to get caught by the odd wave. ...

Re: Repainting a Glass Boat

I did a thin resin coat to my Fanatic 2 last summer and am very glad I did it. One thing I would do different is to prep the fiberglass hull by (lightly) sanding it smooth first. Without doing that first, I got a very abrasive surface that ...
