Re: Paddle Recommendation?

... if someone could actually describe the attributes that make a good paddle for different purposes. At present my main paddle is an Endless River Phantom - ER are a UK brand (I don't think they make the paddles themselves) so most won't be familiar with it, basically it is a solid carbon, flat ...

WTB Dagger Phantom

My Phantom is getting thin and I have not found a new boat I like as much. If have you have a Phantom you are willing to part with, I'd like to hear from you. I drive from NY to ID every May and NY to AZ every November so location doesn't matter. Thanks-

Re: Paddler Weight for Esquif Detonator

Detonator is more stable and forgiving than Phantom. I paddled Phantoms for several years and loved them, but am lighter than you by about 20 to 30 pounds. And no one has ever said I'm built like a football player.

Re: Paddler Weight for Esquif Detonator

Really? I know the phantom is a little better for lighter paddlers but 190lbs isn't THAT big. Maybe the design didn't match your style. Can you try the detonator before you buy it? No, I think it did not match my build.... I have large ...

Re: ALF gearswap

Prelude, L'edge, Detonator, option, Octane 85, spark, Phantom, solito. Any shorter boat thats not going to trip up a 160lbs semi begginer. L'edge may be too heavy.

Re: Width and Stability (good article)

... them to do lots of surfing on progressively bigger or more bucky waves. For me the Ovation is not as stable as the Spanish Fly. I could not keep a Phantom upright, a common experience with other men. What is stable depends on the size of the paddler. It also depend on your personal style and preference. ...

Bought new, never used, not even outfitted. Outfitted in fall 2012, one season of occasional use in 2013. In excellent shape. It just isn’t the right boat for me. $1000, no airbags.
