Re: Converting Sunburst II to yandem

It has definitely been done successfully. I had a Sunburst II that was paddled tandem on Ocoee by 2 ladies in a previous life. My wife and I started out in a regular Sunburst but soon found a Caption. The pocket canyon has much more volume, probably ...

Re: Converting Sunburst II to yandem

I was not aware of that. I kept looking at the dimensions, the rocker profile, etc, and it seems doable. We will find out!

Re: Converting Sunburst II to yandem

I’d say yes, it’s probably been done.

Isn’t Esquif’s Pocket Canyon based on the Sunburst hull, and it’s a great tandem canoe!

The Sunburst ends are probably narrower.

Looking for ANOTHER OC (maybe 2) in CA/OR

... starting to paddle with me, so I'd like to pick up a shorter tandem or an old-school OC-1 that I could either triple-outfit or rig for tandem. ME Sunburst 2 Caper Probe 14 Caption (nobody's going to sell this either, lol) Synergy Etc, etc... Thanks for reading, and happy paddling!

Re: "best" tripping boats?

... out there. Why so many people are fixated on the Cumberland name is beyond me. Obviously, if Scarborough and Blue Hole came up with the name 'Sunburst' then they obviously also came up with the name 'Starburst'.

Looking for OC-1 in CA

... civic responsibility to get another boat. Right? Dagger Encore: because it'll always be one of my favs, and someday the one I have will wear out. Sunburst II: because the first canoe I ever owned and learned in was a Sunburst 1, so nostalgia. I can also use it to fish in the bay. Viper 12: because ...

Re: Old School...........

... stored for many, many years. BOB Wow, memories. :) I paddled one for a short time during my NOC stint in the 80's. Beat up and yellow? Then a ME, Sunburst 2, glass Flashback, a series of Capers augmented by a Cyclone for gates. Will it be on the water?

Re: Skid Plate Installation

I've used plain old fiberglass cloth and resin that works as good as those commercial kits and for lots less money. I need to repair some sections on a Kevlar grunch that's on the '85 Sunbright Sunburst and I plan to use fiberglass cloth.

Re: Looking for a tandem canoe

Were you the one that got my yellow Sunburst? That should be a really good tandem boat for you and your young daughter. I wish I kept it for me to take my 9-year old daughter out.

Re: Thigh Strap Ideas for Sunburst

REI has 2" straps that work great. They'll even cut them to length for you. You'll need 2" D-rings of course. Walmart sells 2" plastic buckles. Cheap.
