Krylon Fusion

The krylon Fusion product is formulated for plastic and sticks very well if the surface is properly prepped. Not a lot of color selection but you could get creative by changing the boat color or just painting the bottom up to a line, say taped around the waterline. I would hesitate to use garage flo...

Also

I like to use a sharp wood chisel to help with shaping. Or a good old whittlin knife will do.

Shredders of another color

Jim - I've seen them in red and yellow. Yes from airtight. The yellow one had the seams done in black - looked like a giant bumblebee, I think John Belushi was aboard doing his SNL skit :). I think you might have to wait a while to get one but he has done them. The only way to be sure would be to ca...

Shredders

I only have experience with the airtight. Love it. Great to take people on rivers they either are not ready to OC2 or just will never step into. Took my wife down the NRG at 3.5, she had a lot of fun once she realized how much easier it was vs. OC2. When I asked her if she would OC2 the run, she emi...

Looks like the gauntlet has been thrown down

K boaters talkin smack about a tandem day at http://baltimorecanoeclub.org/smf/index.php?topic=6382.45 "It looks like we might have to change the name of the trip again. It looks like some scirby one bladed tandem open boaters want in on the action. See what I mean? It is just not safe to go into th...

I just use sheet vinyl

Like Jim Michaud, but I've been using plain old clear sheet vinyl with vinabond. If you de-stress the crack first they do not spread. Easy enough to monitor with clear vinyl on top !

No worries about exposed ABS, just glue it on as a contact cement, not wet.

forgot about the pump

you can attach it to some drings if you want. I mount it under the bags just behind the saddle, to my onside to make it easy to tilt the boat and get a little more water out. Attwood housing is ABS, glue some strips of vinyl (cut from the edges of a dring patch) to create loops on the housing and ti...

for the battery

I push a 1/2 - 3/4" piece of pvc pipe through the saddle a few inches in front of the cutout. Then a short cam strap can be run behind the battery though the pipe. If you want a nice finished look and be sure it won't pop out even in a hole trashing, cut a 1/2-3/4" piece of minicell to fit over the ...

Reliability note

Forget about connectors - use only where needed. Solder everything you can - like the switch and battery connections. Only use a plug connector between the battery and switch. Cheap plugs will eventually corrode and stop working, but a quick polish of the contacts with some steel wool and they work ...

I've outfitted several boats. Single pump, double pump... Attwood 1250 offers the best performance w/regards to water pumped vs. power consumed. Keep your discharge hoses as short as possible for best efficiency. Run parallel - one switch one battery. If you run in series you have two problems - you...

Zoom

a very responsive boat.

Stability will take a few days but its best not to try to keep the boat flat but to paddle with a tilt to one side or the other.

Edges are less grabby than the Ocoee.

Super dry ride, but you better stay active and on top of it or roll practice will be in order.
