DaveM on the CForum: F-1 vs F-2 The F-2 has softer chines in the bow than the F-1. The development of this series went F-1, Stealth, F-2, but the starting point for the F-2 was the F-1 not the Stealth. Most F-1's that are still around today are getting pretty long in the tooth. Davey & Jon developed the F-1 for '89 worlds. I like the F-2 better that the F-1 as the bow releases easier during upstream gates. The last version of the F-2 actually was being molded with more volume in the bow. This was a mold modification you could request on early F-2's that Andy (Dagger)was making, but I think it became almost common practice on the later boats. I'm not sure Dagger is making anymore F-2's. Upstream Edge probably still has a mold. I would guess Gary's mold is the very last version Davey tweaked which included more volume in the bow etc. The Fanatic and the Maverick were some of the last boats to be paddled from the stern.

The FANATIC is the slalom C-1 with the award winning ege. Designed by world champions David Hearn and Jon Lugbill, the FANATIC captured the top four places of the World Cup and Championships in 1989….The FANATIC is the most radical of the Batmax series of racing boats. It has less volume in the stern, allowing for faster, more precise turns. There is more volume in the bow and is narrower in the middle, making the FANATIC faster in a straight line. The US.S. team used the FANATIC in the 1990 World Cup with great success. - From the New Wave catalog.
