Peter Zurflieh considers this boat to be his best design.
Manufacturer Comment:
The DESCENDER C-1, designed by Peter Zurflieh has a proven track record on the steep, technical rivers of the Eastern US. This 12'2", medium volume C-1 has become a popular cruising boar, selected by paddlers of varying skill levels. Although designed for a fast, high gradient streams, its volume and stability allow it to handle heavy water easily. It is slightly narrower than the Batmax series of C-1s (approximately 1"), increasing speed and improving stroke efficiency. The DESCENDER turns very easily, making eddies easy to catch. It also rolls easily since there are no sharp edges. The full cut DESCENDER has enough room to accommodate a large paddler comfortably. Since NEW WAVE trims the boat appropriately for an individual's size, weight, and skill level, this boat can fit any decked canoeist. (from the New Wave catalog)
